In addition to our education programs, The AjA Project endeavors to reduce racism, promote cross-cultural understanding, and raise awareness of refugee realities by exhibiting our students’ art and accompanied writings in public spaces throughout the country.
AjA’s traveling exhibition, Lives in Transition: Expressions of Refugee Youth, is a collection of photographs, testimonials, quilts, and multimedia works by resettled refugee children in San Diego, Burmese refugee youth in Thailand and internally displaced teenagers in Colombia.
Lives in Transition was developed through a partnership with National Geographic and has been exhibit at the National Geographic Society Explorer’s Hall in Washington, DC, Georgetown University, the United Nations building in New York City, and the headquarters of the Miami Herald in Miami, Florida.
