FRANK

My name is Frank, I am a junior at Serra High School, and I live in the Tierrasanta community of San Diego. The social issue that speaks to me the most at this time is the impact of COVID-19 and the necessity to provide a snapshot of this historical period. I chose this issue because I realize that we need a way to preserve and interpret this soon-to-be historical era so that the memory of COVID-19 will never be forgotten. One way or another, we are all affected, and so we must make sure that the memories of this troubling moment in history will never be lost to the sands of time. I have been using photography as a way of preserving a record for future generations to reflect on once the dust has settled. I have been noticing myself taking pictures around my community during these troubling times, and how my community has adapted to the madness. I mainly photograph from eye level, placing the viewer in my shoes. Through my work, people will see what life looks like in my community during the COVID-19 era. And I hope that these images will serve as a primary source for future historians to use in their interpretations of the narrative in which we now live.
