Karen Project - "Record of Truth"
.karen project

The Karen, Burma`s largest ethnic minority, have been oppressed by the military dictatorship of Burma (Myanmar) for over 50 years. The civil war in the mountainous eastern part of the country has resulted in an exodus of over 120,000 Karens across the border into refugee camps in Thailand (background).

The AjA Project provides alternative educational programs in these refugee camps, according to our mission to provide "innovative, multi-media and vocational education."

All of our programs are carried out in close partnership with local grassroots organizations. This provides for more consistent local monitoring, and thus a more appropriate response to genuine local interests and needs, as well as improved program sustainability.
