Over the course of the fall semester, Monroe Clark Middle School students in The AjA Project’s PhotoCity program were busy learning about recycling and creating a brochure that outlines a new recycling initiative at the school. The students took a trip to Urban Corps to learn about California’s CRV program, which lets recycling centers pay consumers in exchange for empty bottles and cans, and take photos of recyclables. They then made a brochure that will be disseminated to the school and the community.

Each Monday and Thursday at 7 a.m., students roll out recycling bins at their school for the community to bring their recyclable CRV items. Profit made from the recyclables will go directly to the school’s ASB program. Bins are located at the front gate on Thorn Street and the back gate on Myrtle Avenue.
